* On July 9, when France's national soccer team lost the 2006 FIFA World Cup final, the ejection
* from the game of star player Zinedine Zidane for head-butting an Italian defender drew
* more global headlines than the result itself.
*
* Soon afterwards, a comedy single about the head-butting incident sung by act La Plage was
* released and the French audience ate it up on the IFOP/Tite Live music chart.
*
* La Plage's soca-styled "Coup de Boule" -- French for "head butt" -- is a parody of another
* French song, "Zidane Y Va Marquer" by TV personality Cauet, which lauds the French team captain.
* In an ironic chart twist, La Plage knocked Cauet's track off the No. 1 spot.
*
* The song "Coup de Boule" was written and recorded on July 10 by brothers Sebastien and Emmanuel Lipszyc, who
* are co-founders of Paris-based TV music/jingles production and publishing company La Plage, as well as
* songwriter Franck Lascombes, who circulated it as an online joke to industry friends.
* Within hours the track was being aired on national radio.
*
* The Crazy Frog was yesterday's news as the parody became a hot-selling ringtone with 185,000 in sales.
* The song was domestically released in the U.S. with 112,000 shipments.

* from the game of star player Zinedine Zidane for head-butting an Italian defender drew
* more global headlines than the result itself.

* Soon afterwards, a comedy single about the head-butting incident sung by act La Plage was
* released and the French audience ate it up on the IFOP/Tite Live music chart.
*
* La Plage's soca-styled "Coup de Boule" -- French for "head butt" -- is a parody of another
* French song, "Zidane Y Va Marquer" by TV personality Cauet, which lauds the French team captain.
* In an ironic chart twist, La Plage knocked Cauet's track off the No. 1 spot.
*
* The song "Coup de Boule" was written and recorded on July 10 by brothers Sebastien and Emmanuel Lipszyc, who
* are co-founders of Paris-based TV music/jingles production and publishing company La Plage, as well as
* songwriter Franck Lascombes, who circulated it as an online joke to industry friends.
* Within hours the track was being aired on national radio.

* The Crazy Frog was yesterday's news as the parody became a hot-selling ringtone with 185,000 in sales.
* The song was domestically released in the U.S. with 112,000 shipments.
